Big news from student media at DJDS: The Paw and The Pawdcast (formerly DJDS Radio) have merged — and with the merger comes a full rebrand. This move combines the strengths of both platforms, making student journalism more engaging, accessible, and multimedia-focused for readers and listeners alike.
While The Pawdcast remains a separate class, the merger brings shared social media, YouTube, and website platforms, giving everyone one place to find all student media content.
Episodes of The Pawdcast will air every other week on YouTube, running 30–45 minutes, offering the kind of in-depth conversations that complement The Paw’s reporting.
Production happens in a set-up-and-take-down studio in the middle school science room. Equipped with professional microphones, mic stands, a backdrop, and high-quality cameras and lights, the setup gives students a professional feel while letting them gain hands-on experience with multimedia storytelling.
The editorial board is excited about the possibilities this merger and rebrand create. By bringing print, video, and audio together, DJDS students can now enjoy a dynamic, all-in-one student media experience. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see what our students produce this year.
You can catch The Pawdcast and other productions such as our DJDS Hot Ones series on The Paw’s website or on YouTube at @thedjdspaw.
