Hi there,
I just wanted to take a moment to personally thank you, yes, you, for supporting us. It’s hard to believe that we’re already publishing our third-ever print edition, especially considering that this entire newspaper started from almost nothing just last year.
In case you didn’t know, The Paw was nearly completely abandoned when COVID-19 hit. Like so many things during that time, it faded into the background. But here we are, five years after the start of the pandemic, stronger than ever. We’ve worked hard to bring this publication back to life, and that effort would mean nothing without your support.
Whether you’re someone who reads every article from front to back or just flips to the games section, you’re part of what keeps us going. Your interest and feedback push us to keep improving and to keep doing what we love.
Some of you might be wondering: Why bother printing a paper edition at all? For me, the answer is simple: reality. In a world where we’re constantly plugged into screens- phones, computers, tablets- it’s easy to lose touch with what’s right in front of us. A printed newspaper is something real. It’s a small way to stay grounded in the present.
And as we look ahead, we’re not just thinking about what stories to cover or what layout looks best, we’re thinking about what kind of voice we want to be for DJDS. What conversations matter, and what stories aren’t being told yet?
The Paw isn’t just a newspaper. It’s a platform for all of us- students, teachers, staff- to reflect, to question, and to connect. That’s the kind of impact we want to have, and we’re excited to keep growing with you right by our side. So once again, thank you for being a part of this journey with us. We truly couldn’t do it without you.
Warmly,
Cooper Coughlan, your editor-in-chief
